Our story

Stephen and Carlo met by chance just over a decade ago in Sicily. Stephen was visiting to reconnect with his roots, as his father was Sicilian, while Carlo was finishing university. They quickly became friends, united by a love of good food and authentic Italian flavours. When Carlo later moved to London, he stayed with Stephen for a while, and their friendship grew even stronger.

Fast forward a few years, during a flight to Sicily, Stephen came across a newspaper article reporting that one of the world’s largest producers of pasta sauce had been prohibited by the World Health Organisation (WHO) from targeting children in its advertising. The sauce contained so many added and processed ingredients - sugar and salt among them - that the WHO ruled children should only be “encouraged” to eat it once a week. Why feeding children such unhealthy food even once a week was acceptable was never explained in the article or by the WHO.

As soon as he landed, they went to work. Stephen and Carlo decided to make their own pasta sauce with the help of local farmers. Their pasta sauce became their very first product, and to this day, it’s made with nothing artificial added. All sauces are produced using tomatoes picked only at the end of summer in Sicily, combined with extra virgin olive oil, fresh vegetables, and fragrant basil.

There’s no need for preservatives like those used by the big brands, the natural sugars from the Sicilian sunshine take care of that. Everything is made just as locals have done for centuries, long before modern additives even existed.

After perfecting their recipe, they opened their first deli in South West London, bringing their traditional flavours to a local community of food lovers. Now, they’re ready to share those same authentic tastes with the rest of the nation through their online shop.

The range has grown, but the philosophy remains the same: real ingredients, genuine craftsmanship, and no shortcuts. Every product has its own story, told through the producers who make them.

Their goal has always been to bring the delicious taste of home cooking,  just like the one in Carlo’s mother’s kitchen - directly to your door.

They like to think it’s mission accomplished. But, of course, you’ll be the judges.
